Remembering the Venerable Master’s virtue, Universally turn the Flower Adornment Great Dharma
The Flower Adornment (Avatamsaka) Sutra is the sutra of the Dharma Realm. It is also the sutra of Infinite Space. To the ends of infinity space and pervading the Dharma Realm, there is not a single place where the Flower Adornment Sutra is not present. Any place where the Flower Adornment Sutra is found is also a place where the Buddha is, a place where the Dharma is, and a place where the Sangha of worthy sages are.
──Venerable Master Hua
The Venerable Master Hua deeply understood this inconceivable state of the Great Flower Adornment Dharma and wanted his disciples to begin at the most basic level. He constantly, not just on a daily basis, exhorted his disciples to recite the Flower Adornment Sutra and even to memorize it. In his final instructions, the Venerable Master also clearly said, “After I leave, you can recite the Flower Adornment Sutra and recite the Buddha’s name.” Therefore starting on June 1st, GBM will host a 21-day Flower Adornment Dharma recitation session, hoping to offer everyone the opportunity to steep themselves in the Great Flower Adornment Dharma, understand a little bit of its flavor, and plant limitless good roots.
The Venerable Master has said, “The Flower Adornment Sutra is just like an auspicious cloud in empty space, everywhere illuminating the three thousand great thousand worlds, and like the dharma rain of sweet dew moistening all living beings. Therefore, the disciples with an utmost respectful mind and proper deportment sincerely recite four rolls of the Flower Adornment Sutra daily, in order to cleanse their bodies and minds of defilement and purify the three karmas of the body, speech, and thought with the dharma rain of the Flower Adornment. This is what the Venerable Master had hoped his disciples would do.
Commemoration and Gratitude
The Avatamsaka Sutra Dharma Assembly and the Commemoration of the Nineteenth Anniversary of the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua’s Entering Nirvana Ceremony will be held at GBM.
The Venerable Master Hua had vision as vast as Dharma Realm. He had endeavored himself through various levels of communities, trying endlessly to promote mutual harmony between religions and bring peace to living beings.
The kind and compassionate vows of the Venerable Master has pervaded the Dharma Realm. Living beings are obstructed by their stupidity and ignorance and are unable to see their true nature; therefore, the Venerable Master constantly taught and transformed, symphathized, and benefitted living beings until they reach Buddha-hood.
The Venerable Master was humble and selfless, and with unconditional great kindness towards all. For the sake of living beings in the long, dark night of the Dharma-ending Age, he raised the torch of wisdom.
To express our deep gratitude & remembrance of the Venerable Master Hua, the Commemorating Ceremony and Great Meal Offering Ceremony will be held on June 1, 2014. GBM will also host the Avatamsaka Sutra Recitation Session from June 1-21, 2014. The time schedule for reciting the entire Avatamsaka Sutra will be from 8am-4pm daily. You are all cordially invited to attend this event.
Dear Dharma friends,
In order to satisfy our greed for food, we have poisoned the environment and mutilated Mother Nature.
Though we are far apart from the wide open sky, we are shrouded and entangled by our desires and stupidities.
With a repentant mind, we redeem the lives of the sea creatures.
With a sincere mind, we propagate the Buddha’s teaching.
With a hopeful mind, we pray for their liberation.
When we let the fishes and crabs swim back into the great ocean, we untie and rid afflictions from our souls and allow all beings to regain their freedom.
By doing this, people will be more humble, at ease, just and compassionate.
On May 25th starting at 10:00 AM, the Liberation of Life Ceremony will be held at Gold Buddha Monastery.
We welcome all to come and join us in this ceremony. For the sake of our planet, our world, our country, our society, and our families, we contribute a bit of our effort.
